Drink lots of wine, eat tapas, and enjoy the laid-back Spanish way of life. Siestas are a real thing and you will get frustrated if you try to do any shopping in the middle of the afternoon. Also do not try to go out for dinner before 9 o'clock. Spaniards eat a "merienda" which is a small snack (generally something sweet such as a churro) around our normal dinner time of 5 or 6 o'clock and then save their big meal for later.
Budget Tip: In many places in Spain, your bill will be more expensive if you sit at a table or, even worse, on an outside patio. Eat at the bar or take away in order to save a couple euros.
