Koh Samet

Welcome to Koh Samet, Thailand

Koh Samet is one of the closest islands to Bangkok - making it an easy overnight or even day trip from the city. Rent a motorbike and ride to the south part of the island to enjoy the crystal blue water and spend your day lounging on the sand.

Disclosure: This is a national park so you may be made to pay a fee of 200 baht upon entrance (or rent your motorbike before the entrance and ride your bike quickly through as if you didn't know).

Beach Day

I recommend heading down towards Ao Karang or Ao Kiu Na Nok Beach where the island is a bit less congested. You can see a huge difference in the water color and clarity between these areas and the beaches further north near the bars and backpacker areas.

Rent a Motorbike

Typically, motorbikes run for 300 baht per day or 100 baht per hour. With some patience and determination, you may be able to bring the price down a bit. I believe I paid 200 baht for about four or five hours with my bike, but it wasn't easy to land this deal.
